TDP Second edition!_
One of the paramount requirements for assessing and measuring the progress level of any University or institution is the presence of Infrastructure and facilities.
Prof Greg Nwakoby has again blazed the trail by setting a far reaching pace for other developing institutions to follow. Prior to his assumption of office in March 2018 as acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), the University was ravaged with lack of infrastructure.
As a matter of fact, COOU as of March 2018 only had about eighteen (18) lecture halls at the old site of the University, and about three (3) at the new site of the Igbariam Campus bringing it to about twenty one (21) lecture halls only for the entire Igbariam Campus.
At the Uli Campus of the University, not more than thirty (30) lecture halls were visible as at the time in review with Awka having only one (1) complex; an obvious fact that academic activities must have been suffering adversely.
According to the Executive Secretary of the National University Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Adamu during the confirmation session of Mr Chris Jibreel as the Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration): maintained that Infrastructural and facility development are key requirements for every Institution to exist formidably.
Prof Adamu believes that the NUC has a mission to ensure the orderly development of a well coordinated and productive University system that will guarantee quality and relevant education for national development and global competitivenes. Therefore the nations University regulatory body holds Infrastructure dearly and sees it as a veritable requirement for assessment.
It is based on the foregoing position and the need to provide essential academic services to both the students, Staff, University Community, Ndi Anambra in particular and Nigeria in general that this First Class erudite Professor of Law and Vice Chancellor of COOU Prof. Greg Nwakoby immediately swung into action to deliver massive construction and erection of structures in the University.
Today, the Igbariam Campus of the University has been nicknamed ” _Construction site”_ due to the various ongoing projects. Some of these projects include:
1. Construction of New Faculty of Education complex, offices and lecture halls,
2. Construction of Faculty of Social Science Faculty building,
3. Construction of Faculty of Arts Modern Faculty building,
4. Construction of New Faculty of Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science Faculty building,
5. Construction of Palm oil Processing mill,
6. Renovation of ETF Auditorium etc.
Mr Project has within just few years in office, attracted lots of investors into the University and this has been reflected on the number of similar structures springing up such as;
√ Construction of over seven hundred (700) capacity students hostel at the Igbariam Campus and over 200 capacity at the Uli Campus of the University. Worthy of note, various abandoned projects are now being resuscitated and reaching completion.
The question on the lips of everyone which is yet to be answered still remains “What is the Big Secret”?
Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you Mr Project; Professor Greg Nwakoby, an administrator per excellence, an enigma, the pilot of COOU, a man of goodwill and the _Pandemic Hero_ also known as De Divine Project.
